How to Apply for Funding

The promise of Susan G. Komen® is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures. The Affiliate funds non-duplicative, community-based breast health education and breast cancer screening, diagnostic, and treatment projects for the medically underserved in our 22-county service area. In addition to funding local outreach projects, Susan G. Komen® runs one of the most innovative, responsive grant programs in breast cancer today.

Large Grant Applications

Komen Wisconsin will award community grants to local non-profit organizations that will provide breast health and breast cancer projects between April 1st, 2016 to March 31st, 2017.  Applicants may request funding of $6,000 or more for one year. Applicants seeking less than $6,000 should refer to the section below on Komen Wisconsin Small Grants Request for Applications (RFA).

Please view the RFA’s at these links:

FY 2016-17 RFA Community Grants

FY2016-17 RFA Breast Health Fund

Komen Wisconsin has identified the following three funding priority areas, in order of importance.  (Please see complete priority information in the RFA’s)

  1. Early detection through increased breast cancer screening with mammography
  2. Early detection through increased diagnostic breast care
  3. Eliminate barriers to breast cancer care

Funding priorities were selected based on data from both the 2011 and the 2015 Komen Wisconsin Community Profile Reports which assess the breast cancer burden and needs found in the 22-county affiliate service area.  Komen funding is optimally used to ensure that quality breast health care is available for all.  This requires programs to target individuals who are medically underserved, under or uninsured, and/or experience any other personal or systemic barriers to timely, high quality, and affordable breast health services.
