Komen Wisconsin Welcomes New Board President Tammy Garcia

Susan G. Komen® Wisconsin is happy to announce the election of a new Board President, Tammy Garcia. Garcia is the former Chair of the Mission Committee of Komen Wisconsin’s Board of Directors and current Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Seno Medical headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. Garcia brings 25 years of commercial sales and marketing leadership experience in medical device and diagnostic imaging with a significant part of her passion and career focused on women’s health and improving cancer detection.

In her new role as the board president, Tammy is looking forward to working closely with Komen Wisconsin Executive Director, Nikki Panico, as well as the rest of the board to create a strategy to guide the Affiliate’s operations as they work to save lives in Wisconsin.

“The Komen Mission is incredibly important to me,” said Garcia. “I have had many friends and co-workers battle this horrible disease, I am also a breast cancer survivor. Treatments are vital, and the progress in medicine and techniques that have been made is breathtaking, but educating and providing basic breast health is significantly important too and I feel grateful for the opportunity serve and support the Affiliate in all of its roles.”

Tammy has her MBA from the University of Phoenix, Phoenix, AZ and her B.S. in Management from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, WI. Tammy has been married to her husband Bob for 40 years and has three very successful children who are married and live in the Milwaukee and Madison area. Her personal life revolves around her family.

As the Affiliate’s staff and board members welcome in the new President, they also say goodbye to former board president, Dr Guillermo Martinez-Torres. After almost four years as the Board of Director’s leader, Dr Martinez-Torres decided that it was time to pass on the torch.

“In the past four years in this role, I’ve witnessed a rebirth of Komen in Wisconsin through new staff, new events and most recently, our merger with the other two Affiliates in the state”, said Martinez-Torres. I believe I took this organization to a point and that Tammy is the right person to bring it to the next level. I will continue to support Komen Wisconsin through its Races and other events and look forward to seeing what they’ll do next.”
